Veterinary Nurse Laura Peck is responsible for assisting our veterinarians during appointments, running lab work, taking radiographs, performing dental cleanings, and administering anesthesia for our surgical patients.
With 13 years of experience in an animal-related field, Laura joined our team in January 2015. Interestingly, she completed a summer internship at a wildlife rehabilitation center after earning her Bachelor's degree in Biology. She found the experience both educating and interesting, as it allowed her to "care for some very unique animals" - bears, river otters, and bald eagles!
Laura most enjoys assisting in surgery and interacting with our clients. She says: "From the day I interviewed for the job, I knew this was a special hospital I wanted to be a part of."
At home Laura has an eight-year-old Staffordshire Terrier named Tiny Bubbles and a five-year-old orange tabby cat named Todd.
"I have been referred to as the cat whisperer in the past as I seem to handle cats well and enjoy feline medicine," she says.
In her spare time, Laura enjoys hiking with Tiny Bubbles, fishing, reading, cooking, and gardening.
